Ipplepen Village Garden Show Society

We hereby give notice of our Annual General Meeting, to be held at the Millennium Centre, Biltor Road, Ipplepen, TQ12 5QL, on Tuesday 18th November at 7.30pm. Once again, we are planning to run the Village Show next year, on Saturday 18th July 2026. This year we were blessed with fine weather, and we are pleased to report that we had a very successful day. As ever, we were overwhelmed with the support given by the Village and hope to keep building on this for the future. My grateful thanks to our fantastic volunteers, we can’t do it without you. We are committed to staging our historic Show and hope that the support shown thus far, will continue and grow. With this in mind, you are cordially invited to attend the above meeting and learn how you can be a part of the planning and running of next year’s event. We look forward to seeing you

Village Show 2026 Photography Competition Teaser

IPPLEPEN VILLAGE GARDEN SHOW

I’m sure you will all be glad to hear that following this year’s successful Show, it’s all systems go for 2026.

As you all know, the photography section of the Garden Show is very popular and I know that many of you will be gearing up for next year’s competition, especially as we have had a change of season. Autumn is a great time for fantastic colours.

With this in mind, here is a teaser for 2 of the categories for next year:

Adults:- Autumn splendour, a photograph showing the change in seasons from Summer to Autumn.

Children:- The colours of Autumn, a photograph showing the colours of the season.

Full details of all the categories will follow in due course.

My thanks to Bernard Collins, who runs this competition.

Next year’s Show is on Saturday 18th July 2026

Advance Warning of Road Block. Show Day 19th July

Please take note! It is only for a short while but it’s recommended to avoid the area by car until the parade is finished. Thank you for your patience.

Grand Draw and more!

Sales of the Draw tickets are hotting up. We have less than 2 weeks to go … 😲 A reminder that I will be selling tickets in Lisa’s Cafe on Saturday 12th between 11am and 3pm, so come and get your tickets early or at all, if you won’t be at the Show ( what do you mean you can’t come??)
I’m sure most people will be there as normal,  we do have a lot going on. There is the return of the Craft Market with lots of lovely items and we are hopeful of a return to glory of the Classic Vehicles. In addition to a lot of great stalls, we have our ever popular Face Painter, Faces, Glitz and Glam and new for this year, the Carnival Club are creating a Children’s fun area with traditional games including Hoopla. They are also running a tuck shop.
We are still getting a few late bookings, if you want to have a stall, please come direct to us on 01803 813566 or Chairman@ipplepenvillageshow.co.uk.
You will be able to use bank cards to pay for entrance and for Draw tickets on the field. Many of the societies don’t take cards so make sure you raid your piggy banks in good time and don’t all hit the Co op ATM on Show day! All in all, cash is preferable.
On the subject of cash, don’t forget that this year’s top prize is £100, thanks to a very generous donor. I have also been given some great vouchers and some lovely prizes, including some books from our fabulous resident author, Sam Carrington.

DON’T FORGET 9.00pm Friday 11th is the cut off for entries and the date for return of cups.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Village Show 19th July

Village Show 19th July.

What do you mean, only two weeks to go! We haven’t been able to run the Classic Car Competition for the last couple of years, so really hopeful that we can have a good display this year. It has always been a popular part of the Show and it would be great if it could return with a bang ( not literally..)

If you want to bring along your Classic or Vintage Car,  please email your entry to David Brown at Brown.david@btinternet.com. Alternatively, bring you car along on Show Day and register in person with David.

Health and Safety are very key to the success of our Show, so please note that cars must be brought onto the field before 12pm and cannot be removed until after 4.30pm. All cars MUST be escorted on and off by a marshal.

On the subject of marshals, I am really pleased to announce that the marshals for this year’s event will be members of Newton Abbot Rotary Club. They will be recognisable by their Hi Viz and there will be a check point. Newton Abbot Rotary Club have been serving Newton Abbot for over 100 years, check out their website at:
https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/officers.php?ClubID=1047&YrID=121. ;
They do way too much great stuff for me to list here!

Thank you to the members who have agreed to help out and give up precious free time, it really is appreciated.

If there are any questions,  please contact me on 01803 813566 or Chairman@ipplepenvillageshow.co.uk.

See you at the Show!

The Programme is on it’s way!

The Programme is on it’s way! I am always impressed by it’s quality, we are fortunate to have the support of so many businesses who advertise in it. My grateful thanks to them.
This revenue means that everyone in the Village and Torbryan receives a copy, hand delivered by Sarah Brewer and her team, many thanks to them.
No excuses now everyone, get those creative hats on and start preparing for the Show.

I look forward to seeing the entries!

Village Show 19th July 2025

Some of you may remember my search for a new gazebo last year, to replace the one that was ruined in the storm on Show Day 2023. The gazebo was used for the Saltash Town Band, who accompany the Maypole Dancing. We were very kindly donated one last year, which although the Band didn’t play because of the weather (again..) the gazebo was put to another good use, so we do still need a replacement.
The ideal one is 6 metres square, with windows. These, of course don’t come cheap but we may struggle if we can’t replace it. We have had a couple of very tricky years due to the weather and have had to dig into our reserves and of course, staging the show does keep costing more each year.
We are committed to putting on the Garden Show and Ipple Tipple, neither of which we can do without the support and generosity of the Village. So, I am once again appealing for help to obtain a replacement gazebo. Does anyone have one taking up room in the garage which they are willing to donate, sell or even perhaps lend to us? We do have the remnants of the old one, so there is the option of some repairs, if someone has one in a similar state.
If we have learned anything in recent years, it is that we can’t trust the weather but even if it’s sunny, the band do need shelter.
I am hoping that someone will come forward and I’m keeping everything crossed in anticipation!
Thanks to all as always.
