We hereby give notice of our Annual General Meeting, to be held at the Millennium Centre, Biltor Road, on Tuesday 19th November 2024 at 7.30pm.
Once again, we are planning to run the Village Show next year, on Saturday 19th July 2025. As ever, we were overwhelmed by the support given this year, despite very wet weather, and hope to keep building on this for the future. My grateful thanks to our fantastic volunteers, we can’t do it without you. We’re committed to staging our historic show and hope that the support shown thus far will continue and grow.
With this in mind, you are cordially invited to attend the above meeting and learn how you can be a part of the planning and running of next year’s event. We look forward to seeing you.

A few acknowledgements.
We all know that the British love to talk about the weather, well there’s always plenty to say! The past three Village Shows have been somewhat affected by adverse or extreme conditions and it was a shame that this year’s Show was a little bit spoiled by the rain. Well we live in Devon and I believe the saying is’ There is no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing.’! The Village duly donned their waterproofs and came to the Show anyway.
All in all,it was a great event and the feedback has been very positive, with many of the stallholders wanting to come back next year.
Whilst the Show is still fresh in our minds, I want to take this opportunity to thank the local companies and businesses that supported us this year. Firstly our main sponsor, Charles Darrow, a long term supported of Ipple Tipple, upped their donation to include the Garden Show as well, for which we are extremely grateful. Secondly, thank you to everyone who placed an advert in the Show programme, it’s a great publication which couldn’t survive without this support.
This year three very generous local couples came forward with donations of money and equipment, all of which were put to great use.
I am hopeful that this year’s draw will be more successful than ever. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who donated prizes.
The following businesses donated 2 of the fantastic hampers: The Tally Ho Inn in Littlehempston gave us a fantastic Fortnam and Mason hamper and the Coffee Company in Newton Abbot gave a basket of their own lovely tea and coffee products. Thank you both so much. Local artist Jenny Brown, very kindly donated two of her wonderful pictures, Sam Carrington donated 4 of her books and the Coop donated a box of chocolates, thank you all. I also received some great donations from Villagers, once again thank you!
The following donated vouchers:- Austin’s, Dart’s Farm, China Blue, Queen Street Butchers in Newton Abbot, The Alexander Cinema, Lisa’s Coffee, Torre Abbey, Sandridge Barton Winery, Fermoy’s, The Plot Deli in Newton Abbot, Rebalance Clinic, Highweek ( Massage), The Pig and Whistle and Dainton Park Golf Club. Thank you to all of these fantastic companies.
We are living in difficult times, so I have found the level of generosity this year astonishing. Please support all of these local companies where you can.
Last thank you is for all of our helpers and to everyone who braved the elements and came and supported us. We can’t do it without you.
The Maypole Dancers will perform in the park on Carnival Day, Saturday the 10th August. Keep an eye on Social Media for the timings and come and support the Children. Who knows, the sun might shine! See you there.

Grand Draw
These are just some of the prizes up for grabs in the Village Show Grand Draw. As you can see it’s quite a haul! The picture doesn’t really do it justice but you can get the idea😁
There are 4 fabulous hampers, one from the Coffee Company, Newton Abbot, 2 from donations from very generous Villagers and one luxurious hamper from Fortnam and Mason, given by The Tally Ho in Littlehempston. There are a lot of vouchers also and who would turn down £50?
My sincere thanks to all the people and companies that have given me prizes, this is the highest amount to date.
I will have the full list available on Saturday.
This year we are back outside the marquee, look for the sign that says HELP POINT & DRAW, on the dark red gazebo.
Don’t forget to bring cash as not everyone will have card readers.
Not long now, looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Show starts 1pm.
Maypole Parade Road Closure 20/7/24
A reminder of the road closure for the parade on Saturday. It is only for a very short time. I know a lot of Villagers walk up, if you have any friends or family coming by car, please give them a heads up!

Village Show News!
Thank you to both the Hub and David and Lisa at Lisa’s Coffee, for hosting me last week, selling tickets for the Village Show Grand Draw. Thank you also to everyone who came and found me and bought tickets. In addition, Lisa’s have given me a voucher for the draw, their generosity is really appreciated.
It’s all systems go from now, with just one week left. I won’t be doing any pop-ups this week but get in touch if you want any tickets before the Show, this can be arranged, I’m sure.
Next stop, the Show! My fantastic team of ticket sellers will be ready from 1pm and will be in the red gazebo near the main marquee entrance. We’ll probably have use of the card reader but please remember to bring cash . A lot of the small societies can only accept cash, so this is the first reminder to get to a cash point this week!
See you at the Show.
Village Show Grand Draw
I will be selling tickets for the Grand Draw tomorrow, Tuesday 9th, in The Hub from 11am until 3pm. Please come and find me!
In the past week I have had 3 very generous donations. I am pleased to say that there are now 2 fantastic prizes of M&S hampers up for grabs. My grateful thanks to some very generous Villagers.
In addition, Sam Carrington, our local celebrity author, has donated a set of her novels, written under her pen name Alice Hunter. I know from last year that this was a very popular prize. She has also signed them.
I am also still collecting vouchers and now have quite a stash.
The only way you can get your hands on this lovely loot is to buy a ticket. They will, of course be available on Show Day and we will be back in our usual spot in the dark red gazebo near the marquee entrance.
As well as tomorrow in the Hub, I will be in Lisa’s on Friday this week. Not only are they hosting me, they have also donated a voucher. Come and find me, I love to see you! Also get a delicious snack or two…
Less than 2 weeks to go, more than enough time for the weather to improve.

I will be starting my pop-ups selling tickets next week. Tuesday 2nd I will be in the Hub from 11am to 3pm. I will be missing for a short while and Elaine Cheetham will be looking after the shop in my absence. Grateful thanks to her for helping me out.
The following week I will be back in the Hub on Tuesday 9th, 11am to 3pm and in Lisa’s Cafe on Friday 12th from 12pm to 2pm.
