Village Show Grand Draw 20th July

Just a few weeks to the Show and prepararations are well underway. To date I have received prize donations from a lot of Villagers and local companies. Last year’s Draw was fantastic, a real success story in the face of near disaster!
I want to make this Draw at least as successful as last year’s but ideally, even better! The thing is, I can’t do it without the fantastic support of the Villagers, so, as ever, I’m asking for more donations. Always happy to collect!
Tickets are on sale now and I will be doing a few pop-ups, details to follow.
I’m sure you agree that the Village Show and Ipple Tipple are an integral part of Ipplepen. Many local shows have not survived, we won’t let that happen here.
Thank you for your continuing support.

Maypole Parade Road closure

This year sees the return of the ever popular Maypole Parade. In line with health and safety regulations, we have applied for and obtained, permission to have a rolling road closure for the short duration of the parade. Please have a look at the notice with this message. This is obviously an annual event and we all know it happens but always good to be reminded that there will be a few holds ups. Please bear with us, it doesn’t take very long and it’s worth the wait.
I will be posting reminders nearer the Show. Thank you.

Village Show Social

Following on from our successful evening last year, we shall be repeating this on Friday 26th April. It will be held in St Andrew’s Church Hall from 7.15pm. Drinks and nibbles will be available.

This occasion gives us the opportunity to thank our fantastic group of helpers and to give others the chance to come along and meet us. We are looking for all types of helpers including admin staff to help with sorting out the winners and prizes in the Garden Show.

Please put in your diaries now and let me know if you would like to attend, I need to know how much wine to buy!

There is no entry fee, please come along with the intention of enjoying yourselves and hopefully committing to joining our squad on Show Day, Saturday 20th July 2024!

I’m not sure we need a reminder of what Show Day was like in 2023 but here’s one anyway….The Show crew and Jack Wood are very resourceful but repairing this is probably a challenge too far..!

We have several options; We buy a new one. The Saltash Band are a big part of our Show, in conjunction with the Maypole dancing and they need shelter.

We patch up the old one from what can be salvaged, you can see from the picture that this might be pretty tricky and we don’t want it to be a homage to duct tape….

Last option; Perhaps someone has one in the dusty corner of their shed or garage that they are willing to sell for a reasonable amount, or better still donate to the Village Show Society. It doesn’t need to be pristine necessarily as we still have the bones of the old one and we have some very clever people in our midst. The old one was 6m by 4m

Last year’s Show was very successful but we did take a hit on our reserves and we are already seeing a lot of our costs rising, hence my appeal to the ever generous and resourceful people of Ipplepen.

Thanking you in anticipation

Village Garden Show AGM

Ipplepen Village Garden Show Society

We hereby give notice of our Annual General Meeting, to be held at the Millennium Centre, Biltor Road, on Tuesday 21st November 2023 at 7.30pm.

We are pleased to announce, that despite the circumstances of this year’s event, we are planning to run the Show next year, on Saturday 20th July. We were overwhelmed by the support given this year and hope to build on this for the future, a lot of events have not been staged since before the pandemic, we are fortunate that we have a lot of fantastic volunteers. Since our triumphant return in 2022, we’re committed to staging our historic Show and hope that the support shown thus far will continue and grow.

With this in mind, you are cordially invited to attend the above meeting and learn how you can be a part of the planning and running of next year’s event. We look forward to seeing you.

Village Show Maypole dance goes ahead

Good news everyone! After the disappointment of no Maypole dancing at the Village Show, the children will be dancing next Saturday 12th August at 4pm at the village park. This is prior to the Carnival parade, so please come along and enjoy the display. There will also be a bouncy castle, ice cream, candy floss and doughnuts available. Many thanks to the Carnival Club who have made this happen. Entrance is free before the procession. See you there!
